Eté 1994, l'Europe baigne dans une overdose de Dance et d'Eurodance. Les 2 Unlimited, E-Type, Ace of Base, Masterboy, Culture Beat, Cappella, Corona, Magic Affair, D.J Bobo, Ice MC, Haddaway, U96, Pharao, Maxx et autres envahissent nos ondes et nos tops de ventes de disques. Alors que la formule Eurodance (qui consiste à mélanger des Raps aux couplets et des chants aux refrains) commence sérieusement à s'essoufler et que les groupes de Dance meurent artistiquement et commercialement les uns après les autres, un groupe allemand se fait remarquer avec le titre Hyper Hyper. Avec cet hymne à la danse, H.P Baxxter, Rick Jordan, Ferris Bueller et le producteur Jens Thele, les quatre membres du groupe à l'époque se font connaître dans toute l'Europe. Tout de suite, des millions de personnes sont séduites par un style original, novateur et terriblement efficace. Sur tous les titres de ce premier opus, Scooter propose une ambiance Live avec des sons de public plus ou moins déchainé, un chant en anglais de M.C (Master of Ceremony) avec un filtre qui donne l'impression d'un mégaphone lointain, des rythmes avec des beats rapides, des paroles simples et immédiates pour le dancefloor, des sonorités Jungle, Break Beat, Acid, Happy Hardcore et Techno.

Après un premier single passé totalement inaperçu, Vallée de Larmes, une sorte de quasi reprise du titre Island des Buggles, le groupe sort, entre 1994 et 1995, quatre singles imparables: Hyper Hyper, Move Your Ass!, Endless Summer et Friends. Tous se caractérisent par la présence de petites voix aigues, de paroles accrocheuses, de basses imposantes et de sons variés. Hyper Hyper est un hommage aux DJs et aux adeptes de la Techno. Move Your Ass! nous invite à bouger notre popotin sur des sonorités industrielles et nous marque avec une phrase culte: "It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice" (c'est gentil d'être important mais c'est plus important d'être gentil). Sur Endless Summer, le groupe nous propose la même recette que sur Move Your Ass! avec en plus un son de piano typique Happy Hardcore et nous invite à prolonger l'été. Friends, le dernier single extrait de ...and the beat goes on! est plus violent que les autres et la version maxi est plus accrocheuse avec son côté encore plus Hardcore que la version album.


Mais le premier opus de Scooter, c'est aussi Different Reality avec son subtile mélange de sonorités Trance, Acid et Techno et ses mélodies saccadées de violons synthétiques, Rhapsody In E avec ses ambiances Trance-Ambient et sa partie magnifique au piano, Beautiful Vibes avec ses rythmes Jungle, son piano Happy Hardcore, ses basses Drum And Bass et ses petites voix aigues faisant vaguement penser à Mikaël Jackson, Waiting For Spring avec ses parties très planantes et ses sons saccadés à la We Can Fly de God's Groove, Cosmos dans le même esprit que Rhapsody In E, Raving In Mexico avec ses sons hypnotiques et son mélange de Trance, de Hardcore et d'Acid et Faster Harder Scooter, un fameux résumé de l'ensemble, une sorte de faux-remix de Hyper Hyper avec un public plus que jamais déchainé, des sons Acid plutôt violents, le fameux son de piano du groupe, des petites voix aigues et un rythme rapide.


Avec les 11 titres de ...and the beat goes on!, Scooter signait en 1995 un album majeur de la musique électronique des années 1990 qui allait rencontrer un succès phénoménal. Un succès bien plus important que celui connu par H.P Baxxter et Rick Jordan de 1986 à 1991 dans le groupe de Synth-Pop nommé Celebrate The Nun (bien qu'ils aient eu un peu de reconnaissance avec leurs deux albums Continuous et Meanwhile).
